Luntu Masiza is a South African actor and producer born in Pietermaritzburg. He spent 13 years in England before returning home in 2015. He recently completed his Master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.
Luntu works across theatre, film, and television. His recent credits include Blood is Black (Warehouse Productions, 2024) and Season 2 of the acclaimed South African series Reyka. On stage, he has performed in The Unlikely Secret Agent (Market Theatre) and will close the year with Barber Shop Chronicles, directed by Sibusiso Mamba.
He was nominated for Best Breakthrough Performer at the Naledi Theatre Awards for The Island (directed by Dr. John Kani) and won Best Actor at the Dikalos Awards (Festival International du Film Pan Africain, Cannes). His early recognition includes the Fleur du Cap Best Promising Student award, the Setkani/Encounter Special Award (Czech Republic), and multiple AFDA performance awards.
As a producer, Luntu co-developed the acclaimed short film Some Mothers’ Sons, adapted from Mike Van Graan’s play and screened both locally and internationally.
