Biography

Kopano Woanda Mashike is a Johannesburg-born internationally nominated storyteller whose work spans screen, stage, and visual art. She began her career in 2017 with Leburugraphy Productions and quickly made her mark with roles in Mzansi Magic films Thojane and Mamodibe. Her multidisciplinary path includes curating The Zama Shozi Debut Collection with Impuls Radio Africa and Alliance Française, and voicing Blue, an animated short that screened internationally. She also co-produced its soundtrack alongside platinum-selling producer uBeyond. Kopano’s stage presence has shone in productions like 4 Cups and Take Me to Town, and her screen credits include standout performances in The Butcher’s Soul and a new Showmax feature directed by Tumisho Mahlase. Now based in Cape Town, she’s taken on lead film roles and stepped behind the camera as a producer, while developing a poetic documentary, Cape Town: The City of Shacks exploring homelessness and memory in the city. Beyond performance, she’s deeply engaged in activism, feeding over 1,500 residents of Cissie Gool House in 2024 and is currently writing her debut memoir, a reflection on survival, belonging, and creative reinvention. She recently landed a role on a etv telenovela as Amanda, she has worked on an international short film as the lead voice actor and had her work exhibited at the Alliance Française in June 2025.
