Biography
Kerry Black is a 21 year old actor based in Cape Town. A graduate of Act Cape Town, (2025), she holds both a Higher and Advanced Certificate in Acting for Film and TV and was honoured to be awarded Most Inspiring Student at her graduation. Kerry has appeared in a range of festival short films, including entries for the 48 Hour and Shotties Film Festivals. Most recently she co-wrote and starred in Before the Cuckoo Calls (2025), directed by Nicola Hanekom, screening at The Labia Theatre in December. Other screen credits include Blou-Klip and The Budget List. On stage, she played Lisa in The Lullaby Lies (2025) and Bobbi Devanzo in Detective, an ensemble comic-book production directed by Sive Gubangxa. Trained in both Meisner and Method, with additional experience in physical theatre and improvisation, Kerry recently co-founded the improv troupe 'Seven' and performs regularly across Cape Town. Off screen Kerry plays the piano, ukulele, sings and works across writing, photography, casting, and directing. Kerry brings curiosity, emotional depth, and a commitment to authentic storytelling to every project, aiming to make a meaningful impact and infuse each project with empathy, truth, and a sense of humour.
